Woodbine (Clematis virginiana) is a woody vine that flourishes in rich, well-drained soil and can tolerate full sun to deep shade (one of the few flowering vines to tolerate deep shade!). It can grow to be 15-20 feet high and 3-6 feet wide. Its prolific fragrant white flowers will attract bees and hummingbirds, and the seed pods on female plants are topped by attractive plumes. Pruning during the growing season will help maintain its shape and encourage bushiness. Woodbine can grow on trellises or along fences, or it can be left unsupported as a groundcover. Proceed with caution as this plant is toxic to humans and pets.
*Note: Our selection of Woodbine is a mixed lot of male and female plants. We cannot guarantee which you will receive.
