Rusty Blackhaw Viburnum (Viburnum rufidulum) is a large deciduous shrub (sometimes considered a small tree) usually found in rocky woodlands and forests. You’ll see clusters of small white flowers adorning it in early spring, as well as Azure butterflies (it is a host plant for them). Fall will bring fantastic autumn hues and blue drupes, the latter of which are enjoyed by songbirds, chipmunks and squirrels. Often used as a hedge, this plant’s resistance to deer and low flammability rating also make it a great choice for planting around your home. It prefers dry to moist loam, full to partial sun, and can grow to be 10-20 feet.

Direct Native Plants ships from our nurseries in Middle River, Maryland, and Woodstock, Illinois. Orders are shipped via FedEx Ground from these locations and typically arrive at most destinations within two (2) business days from the day they ship.

To get your plants to you as quickly and efficiently as possible, we ship orders based on current inventory availability and your proximity to our nurseries. This helps ensure faster delivery and the best experience for your order. In some cases, items in the same order may ship from different locations.
