Jacob’s Ladder (Polemonium reptans) derived its common name from the ladder-like way its leaves arrange themselves on the stem. Topped with beautiful blue, bell-shaped flowers, Jacob’s Ladder prefers moist soil and partial shade. It can tolerate full sun, but will go dormant in drought conditions. This deer-resistant plant is great for a pollinator garden, as it attracts bumblebees, butterflies and moths. In addition, it is a larval host for two types of moth, Coleophora polemoniella and Scrobipalpula polemoniella.
