Harebell (Campanula rotundifolia) is an upright, rosette forming perennial that can naturally be found in a wide variety of locations including meadows, rocky slopes and sandy shores. This plant spreads by underground rhizomes, allowing it to gradually form attractive colonies and fill in garden spaces over time. The small, rounded basal leaves wither early as the plant blooms with attractive, nodding, bell-shaped blue-violet flowers. Harebell is an important late nectar source for hummingbirds. It works well in rock gardens or woodland areas and is best planted in large groups.
