Golden Ragwort (Packera aurea) has cheery yellow flowers resembling a cluster of small daisies. It can be planted in full sun to partial shade, prefers medium to wet soil, and will attract many pollinators and songbirds. Golden Ragwort is an ideal groundcover for a shady wet area such as a bog or rain garden. It grows naturally in meadows, boggy swales, and low woods, and it is semi-evergreen in the southern part of its range. Once the flowers have died, you can cut them back or leave the seeds for birds. The foliage of Golden Ragwort is a food source for the Northern Metalmark butterfly.
