Culver’s Root (Veronicastrum virginicum) is a tall, upright perennial that grows naturally in open woods, meadows and prairies. Its lance-shaped leaves are arranged in whorls along sturdy, erect stems. In summer, elegant racemes of tiny flowers ranging from white to pale blue or lavender bloom atop the stems, creating a distinctive candelabra-like appearance. Many Native American groups historically used the plant’s root for medicinal purposes. Culver’s Root is also an important source of nectar for a variety of native bees and other pollinators, making it a valuable addition to pollinator gardens and naturalized landscapes.

Direct Native Plants ships from our nurseries in Middle River, Maryland, and Woodstock, Illinois. Orders are shipped via FedEx Ground from these locations and typically arrive at most destinations within two (2) business days from the day they ship.
