Keystone Value: The genus Eupatorium (Joe Pye) supports over 40 species of butterfly and moth caterpillars, providing food for a variety of birds and mammals.
Coastal Plain Joe Pye Weed (Eupatorium dubium) is a tall, erect perennial that grows naturally in sandy swamps, riverbanks, and moist thickets. It can tolerate a wide variety of soils, from humusy to sandy, but it will not tolerate dry soil. It blooms from summer to early fall (July to September), and the tiny flowers range from pale pink to dark purple, blooming in large (4-7″) domed clusters. The flowers are highly attractive to native pollinators, and seeds are a popular food source for native birds. Coastal Plain Joe Pye Weed is commonly used in pollinator and rain gardens.
Direct Native Plants ships from our nurseries in Middle River, Maryland, and Woodstock, Illinois. Orders are shipped via FedEx Ground from these locations and typically arrive at most destinations within two (2) business days from the day they ship.
To get your plants to you as quickly and efficiently as possible, we ship orders based on current inventory availability and your proximity to our nurseries. This helps ensure faster delivery and the best experience for your order. In some cases, items in the same order may ship from different locations.
