Bradbury Beebalm (Monarda bradburiana) is a short (1-2′) native perennial that grows naturally in fields, thickets, and woodland borders. It is ideal for use in perennial borders, mass plantings, or woodland gardens. The long-lasting and showy blooms appear earlier than most Monardas, and the curved, tubular flowers are white-lilac with darker purple spots. These blooms support a wide range of pollinators, including hummingbirds, butterflies, and native bees. Bradbury Beebalm is a host plant to the Raspberry Pyrausta Moth (shown above). The leaves can be used in teas and have a minty fragrance when crushed. In fall, the foliage turns into rich shades of purplish-red.
